The Jeffco Aquatic Master’s held their first “annual”
intrasquad swim meet. As it was my first
swim meet, I set personal records in both my events. It was also fun to spend time with folks out
of the water. A swim meet is kind of
like a track meet. There is a lot of
waiting around for your event(s). Some
of the time is passed warming up and cooling down. Most of the time is passed cheering the other
swimmers and just hanging out poolside.
50 SCY Freestyle:
35.57
50 SCY Breaststroke:
50.37
I was thrilled with the freestyle time. My previous best during workouts had been 47
seconds. It was kind of fun to dive in
and just sprint knowing that my only objective was to get to the end and back
as fast as possible. During the events,
I dove in from the side of the pool.
Most individuals came off the blocks, but some individuals did pool
starts.
As I was in the back of the pack for both my events, I am
not planning on competing in other local events on my own. However, I will make a point of practicing
off the start blocks periodically and attempting various distances as part of
my swim training.
I really appreciate all of the volunteers and staff that
helped pull off the event. The potluck
afterwards was a nice bonus.
