This week my wife had tickets to Jesus Christ Superstar at the Arvada Center. I am moderately religious, but don't know too much about the story of Jesus Christ and his betrayal by Judas. As a result, I was not looking forward to the production.
However, I must say the musical was absolutely incredible. It was actually a rock opera originally debuting in 1970 and featuring music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. The cast and orchestra exceeded my already high expectation for Arvada Center productions.
If you are a fan of live performance, you will be impressed and I would recommend it to all audiences. I cannot vouch for how accurately it conveys the dynamic between Jesus Christ and Judas. I can vouch that it was a tremendous production rivaling any others I have seen.
