Mile High Music Festival

This morning I heard the official announcement of the Mile High Music Festival. The newspapers dubbed it one of the worst kept secrets. Nevertheless, July 19th and 20th should be an exciting time for Front Range music fans.

I have seen Tom Petty in concert before. I believe it was in Milwaukee, but it was over a decade ago. Steve Winwood was a while ago also when his band Traffic was opening up for the Grateful Dead in Chicago.

The price of a two day ticket is $150, which surprised me a little bit. I think it is on the high side and for a couple to take in some live music would cost at least $300 plus parking, food, etc. Maybe in relation to other events it is not high. The face value on football tickets and baseball tickets has been creeping up. It has also been about 5 years since I have been to a concert.

I believe if some of the headliners were playing a smaller venue, I would make the effort to attend, but the time for me to attend music festivals has passed. The last music festival I attended was in Chicago when the Gin Blossoms were headlining. I am sure that dates me a little bit, but that’s how it goes.
