Movie Roundup

Well I caught up on some films this weekend. They ended up being all comedies.

Friday night, the wife and I went to see “Date Night” with Steve Carell and Tina Fey. The best part of the movie was the first 10 minutes as the Foster’s gave us insight into life with 2 children. It was a bit scary to see how accurately Hollywood displayed our lives. The rest of the movie was great acting to a pretty bad script. Overall it was reasonably entertaining.

“Miss March” was my B-movie for the week. Aside from the nudity and occasionally zippy one liner this movie sucked. Enough said.

Last night I went to see “Get Him to the Greek.” For sophomoric humor, the film was really entertaining. For whatever reason, I get a kick out of watching Jonah Hill in anything. He really pulls off the dopey character trying to be cool like nobody else can. In this particular movie, he is a record label back office worker who ends up escorting a rock and roll legend from London to LA. This sex and drugs addled journey is pretty funny at times, but is just as often over the top. The story line is pretty good, even though the script goes a little overboard.

All and all, I would consider “Date Night” a worthwhile rental but would pass on the other two.
