I recently went to see a first run movie. The matinee we decided on was “The American” with George Clooney. This previews billed it as a spy thriller type of movie and that is what I was in the mood for. Unfortunately the film left me wondering why I wasted the last 100 minutes.
The movie was very slow and it reminded me of how foreign films are described in sitcoms. Who was that guy? What was that scene all about? Also as foreign films are described there was plenty of nudity and scenes in coffee shop.
After the fact, I went back to look at the reviews that were not that bad. I will agree that George Clooney did a great acting job considering the limited action and dialogue. I would not recommend viewing “The American.”
