RMRR MTS 10 Miler

This weekend I made another step forward in my quest for a finish at the Colfax Marathon. I completed the RMRR marathon training series 10 mile run in 1:55:08. While my time is nothing to write home about, I had a really good run and did not feel too bad until the 9 mile mark at which point I was just looking forward to being done. It is difficult to imagine running another 16.2 miles. I was really impressed by the folks heading back out for a second out and back to complete a 20 mile run.

I also had some new gear to try out. I purchased the Nathan Sports Speed 2 hydration pack from Road Runner Sports. The waist pack is a little heavier than the fuel belt, but felt very comfortable on my waist. I was a little concerned about running with an additional 20 oz of fluid. Those concerns were quickly dispelled. I started my run with both holsters half full and was glad to have water at 1 and 2 miles as the first aid station was not until mile 3. Having Gatorade was a nice treat for the two miles 2 the aid station at mile 5. I will continue to use the hydration pack during my long runs, but will probably leave it at home during my 3 mile jaunts.
