Denver Half Century

This was my second year on the Denver Half Century course.  I am not much of a rider, but I have found that long rides are great for my overall fitness and I am willing to spend the money to have a supported ride with lots of people on the route.  Last year I was planning on doing the metric century but missed a turn and ended up on the 75 mile ride.

This year, I had a copy of the map with me and stayed on the half century course which came out to 58 miles over 4 hours and 40 minutes.  This was within my wheelhouse and what I could realistically enjoy given my mileage to date.  The weather was great.  The rest stops were well spaced out.

The ride was scheduled to start at 6:30 AM, but I was running a little late and found a ghost town at the start line at 7:00 AM.  Nevertheless I grabbed my bib and started on the course.  There were a few other stragglers along with folks who had mechanical issues.  Needless to say the 18 mph group was long gone.
