I recently had the chance to watch "Meru" courtesy of Netflix. It is set in the Himalayas as 3 alpine climbers attempt the Shark's Fin route of Meru. I agree with all of the reviews that critical acclaim in that it really is a story about friendship, family and the call of the mountains. Meru is an amazing backdrop, but the lives of Conrad Anker, Jimmy Chin and Renan Ozturk are equally amazing.
This is another one that I can't recommend for general audiences. However, I have always had a slight tug from the great outdoors. I have climbed a few 14,000 foot peaks in Colorado and dabbled in rock climbing. I have never ice climbed and cannot even fathom big wall climbing.
