Home Office

It was very fortuitous timing in that when we moved over Memorial Day weekend, my office was also reopening the Tuesday after Memorial Day.  Rather than setting up a home office, I opted to gather up my monitors and paperwork and venture back to the friendly confines of the CDOT Golden office.

All was well and good until the delta variant decided to come tearing through town and out of an abundance of caution, our branch manager asked individuals who could work from home to do so until the end of the month.

This time, I opted to set up in a way that would allow me to work partly from home and partly from the office.  I now have a dedicated docking station, monitor set, keyboard and mouse at home and at the office.  I can work from either place by simply transporting my laptop, USB port expander and NXT speaker.  I do have a bit of paperwork that is straddling both camps, but that is a minor inconvenience.

This time around I had several options for where to set up.  We have a dedicated office on the main floor that my wife was prepared to vacate.  We also have a large basement with plenty of corners to set up.  As I prefer to leave my desk a mess, I opted to re-arrange the spare bedroom downstairs to accommodate my new set up.  I am also hoping that it is eventually a flex space again and not a dedicated office.
