Breckenridge - New Ski Gloves

We finally got out for a day of skiing during the 2022-2023 ski season.  Saturday was beautiful in Breckenridge, but Sunday was overcast we strong wind gusts.  We usually dress and prepare pretty warm, but I was certainly not prepared for the chilly weather.

I should have worn sweatpants instead of a base layer and I should have worn a heavier top instead of a t-shirt and lightweight hoody.

I had my Black Diamond Prodigy gloves on and my hands were certainly cool, but not necessarily cold.  I bought a size medium and they fit fine.
  • In September 2016, I shopped for gloves and nearly bought the Alpine Pro Army Leather Heli Ski (Size 10)
  • In November 2020, I shopped for gloves and nearly bought the Alpine Pro Army Leather Heli Ski (Size 9) 3 Finger
  • Today, February 2023, I was ready to purchase the Alpine Pro Army Leather Heli Ski (Size 11).  The 10 fit fine, but the 11 would allow room for a base layer glove.
Nisha tried on Hestra gloves as well.  She grabbed the Alpine Power Gauntlet Mitt Unisex Small (Size 7, $95) and it fit OK, but was a little big.  This is the size I would get her in case her hands grow or she wants to wear liner gloves.  PURCHASED Gordini Women's Ski Mittens Cold Waterproof Gore-tex insulated Gauntlet (Size Medium, Clary Grey Slate Blue).  Size is a little big, but would pair well with a liner.

Hestra actually recommends a system with a liner glove, base glove and shell gloves.  I am definitely going to move in this direction and build out with
Ideally I would start with the pull over mitt.  $75 is a reasonable price point.  I need to figure out the fit as they have XC Mitts, Leather Mitts (tighter fitting) and Over Mitts (roomier for alpine skiing).  It will be interesting to see how they fit with my Black Diamond gloves or even my old Scott gloves that have removable liners.
