Veena Gupta

Veena Gupta

Veena Gupta, 79, of Exton, PA, passed away Monday, June 10, 2024, at Morningside House in Exton, PA. She was the wife of the late Janak Raj Gupta.

Born December 7, 1944, in Amritsar, India, she was the daughter of the late Madanmohan Gupta and the late Pushpavati Gupta.

Veena grew up in Churchgate, Mumbai, and graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree in Child Psychology. She also went on to get a diploma in Home Science from the Nirmala Niketan College of Home Science.

All through her childhood, Veena was an avid reader of books, regardless of the genre. She was also extremely talented in stitching and embroidery.

Veena married Janak Raj Gupta on 18th April 1967 and raised three kids. She is remembered fondly as a pillar of strength, an excellent cook, and a wonderful mother: a superwoman, in short.

Veena lived in Wadala, Mumbai, until her husband’s death in January 2014. She then moved to the US and made a new life with her sons and their families. During this retirement phase of her life, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She made and donated many hats and baby blankets.

Veena was a deeply spiritual person. She spent time meditating, learning about Kriya Yoga, and reading Hindu scriptures. She also loved watching videos and series about Buddha and Hindu mythology on her iPad. The origin and evolution of the cosmos was also one of her interests.

Another of her favorite pastimes was watching birds, squirrels, and rabbits outside her window, grabbing seeds from the bird feeder, or bathing in the birdbath. And watching serials on Netflix.

She is survived by her daughter, Saroj Aggarwal; sons, Deepak Gupta and Gautam Gupta; daughters-in-law, Priyanka Gupta and Sakshi Gupta; grandchildren, Mitali, Dhruv, Divasha, Siyona, and Tanay; great-grandchildren, Kiara and Siya; and brothers, Vinod Gupta and Vimal Gupta. She is preceded in death by her brother, Kewal Gupta.

The cremation will be private and attended by only close family members. Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Service on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. 410 North Church Street West Chester, PA 19380.

In lieu of flowers, we would welcome contributions made to Chester County Food Bank, 650 Pennsylvania Drive, Exton, PA 19341 or please plant a tree in her memory.
