I am back for the 2026 Littlefoot Triathlon. This is a really fun late season race that is sufficiently challenging without disrupting my entire competitive season. The race usually fills up and is 40% full at the time of this writing (6 months ahead of race day). Last year I debated participating and the race sold out.
My triathlon background:
- 1989 - Memphis In May
- 2009 - 5430 Sprint
- 2009 - Rattlesnake
- 2010 - 5430 Sprint
- 2014 - Summer Open
- 2014 - YOLO
- 2015 - My Way or the Tri Way
- 2022 - Littlefoot
- 2023 - Littlefoot
- 2024 - Littlefoot
It is actually really hard for me to believe that I have been competing in triathlon on and off for nearly my entire adult life.
Growing up we often rode bicycles and my first organized event was an MS150 bike ride with my best friend Jeff. I came to running as a high school sophomore being encouraged to go to cross country practices. I took some swim lessons specifically to train for the Memphis In May triathlon.
I truly enjoy running and bicycling and came to swimming later in life. I actually got hooked on swimming and swam with the Jeffco Aquatic Masters from 2011-2015. In addition to triathlon, I have done a number of swim-run and run-bike duathlons. I have even given some thought to point-to-point swim-run events.
I was a little surprised at the current cost of triathlon
- Entry - $105 ($100 before 1/1; $115 until 7/1, $120 until 9/6)
- TriReg Fees - $10
- USAT 1 Day Membership - $25
- TOTAL - $140
When one considers the cost of a bicycle, helmet, running shoes, race kit, goggles, pool/lake access the barrier to entry becomes quite high.
