In terms of family and relationship, this is certainly my last rodeo. I am beyond institutionalized and if I messed up to the point of my wife throwing me out or my kids refusing to speak to me, I feel like I would just ride out life the best I could.
In terms of professional employment, I expect to work until 65-70 years of age. I enjoyed (19) years at StorageTek-Sun Microsystems-Oracle, (2) years at Liberty Oilfield Services and am on (8) years at CDOT. By that math, I could conceivably have 1-2 more rodeos professionally. I expect, I could change fields once getting into consumer products or stay in civil engineering moving outside of CDOT or outside of transportation.

I also am never sure what opportunities will present themselves in the future and I would like to be ready for any active hobby. To that end, there are some steps I can take to stay fit and energetic.
- Healthy bodyweight
- Monostructural endurance 2x per week - Swim, Bike, Run
- Powerlifting 1x per week - Squat, Bench, Deadlift
- H.I.I.T. 1x per week - CrossFit, etc.
- Sport 1x per week - Something with a team that demands power, acceleration and technique
(5) Training sessions plus "table push aways" should keep me going for whatever my next rodeo may be. I have heard of athletes who have taken up some activity in their 60's and enjoyed it at some level for the next couple of decades. I still believe that I could be one of those stories.
Right now I find myself overwhelmed with the overlap of Ultimate Frisbee and Hurling, I am engaging in sport 2-3x per week and am not recovering well. I am slipping in a DekaFit, HIIT session about 1x per week. I swim/bike/run about 2x per week. Finally, I engage in strength training (Powerlifting or All-Round) about 1x per week. Aches and pains are typical, but I usually train through which may or not be OK. Fatigue is certainly building up. The biggest fear is a more significant injury which could take months to recover from. The hurling and frisbee teams both include athletes in their 50's and 60's and I feel like I can hang at some level.
I was training at Westbound CrossFit and enjoying it. I wanted to give Ultimate Frisbee a fair shot. I wanted to start swimming and bicycling more for the Littlefoot Triathlon. I also wanted to be prepared for Deka Fit and Hyrox. That put me in a position to put my membership on hold for three months while I re-evaluate. I have no interest in pursuing F45, Orange Theory or other chain gym. I would consider other boutique sports if opportunities presented themselves.
