Just Write

Some people are gifted writers. Other people are just plain interesting. In the world of blogs and self published books anybody with a little time on their hands can construct a novel, memoir or autobiography. Some people write to convey knowledge and the world is full of books on topics born from the simple conversation:

“You sure know a lot about [blank]”
“Well, I’ve spent the last 30 years of my life [blank]”
“You should write a book”

I have always enjoyed creative writing. I am not an avid reader, but I will consume several books a year. My interest waxes and wanes and is often spurred by other hobbies. This year I have been reading a bunch of parent-athlete blogs.

My own writings are all over the map. Sometimes I have something to say. Most times I have nothing to say. In recent years, I have written almost as a historian would. I have convinced myself that these snippets will be crucial when my life is being researched for screenplay development. Maybe my kids will reference my life story when they find themselves struggling in their own lives.

I am currently putting together an autobiography. I don’t intend to publish. I don’t even have a motivation beyond “Just Write.”
