The 2010 season ended on a high note with a great 10 mile run. I also had a lot of fun with the Stroke & Stride and West Side duathlon events. With that in mind, my 2011 season will be more run focused.
Somehow this year the stars have aligned and none of the events I am interested in conflict with family responsibilities. I intend to do the Mile Hi Duathlon series (3 events) and 3 Stroke & Strides. I really love the racing underground events. They are well organized, well staffed and budget friendly. My “A” events will be the Colfax Marathon in May and the Bear Chase 50K in September.
I am a little concerned about how an 8 event season will work out. I am also a little disappointed that I will not be fitting in a triathlon. However I am excited about a run focused season. I should be able to manage my time better and be present for my family.
I may also join the Colorado Masters Running Association as none of their events conflict with my race or family schedule. The real perk is the $25 membership fee which pays for itself after 3 events.
The season schedule also helps me organize my hobbies budget spending and will include less bicycling gear and more race fees.
