2011 seems to have flown by. Both of my kids had birthdays, I turned 40 and my wife and I celebrated our 6th year of marriage. I have participated in a half dozen races, another softball season and have played 68 hours of poker. The bad news is that I am behind on all four of my goals for the year. In fact, I am not even tracking the data for my dietary goal which was to not eat after 7:00 PM.
As a result it is probably time to level set my expectations for the second half of the year. I would still like to focus on my home life and diet, but I am not quite sure how. As far as my home life goes, I am more aware of being available for date nights and the kid’s activities. However being home has the counter effect of watching more television. On the diet front, I have continued with the late night snacks and high carbohydrate diet. I have started buying salmon and chicken burgers in bulk from Costco that has helped my protein intake. Unfortunately I have not been keeping up with my food journal.
I felt pretty good about my triathlon training until I realized that I was actually down 7% in my volumes year over year from 2010. My times have gotten faster, but I have not been tested on the bike. In the past that has been my weakness and this year my base miles are well below where I was last year.
