We went to the movies last night for date night and enjoyed “What to Expect When You’re Expecting.” It follows 5 couples through their adventures in becoming parents. The couples run the gamut from barely dating to those who already have adult children. The story lines are barely connected and as opposed to a movie like “Traffic” the multiple story lines are required to get in all of the one liners.
The movie only got 23% on the tomato meter and 51% of the audience liked it. When our babysitter said that she enjoyed it, I was a little worried. I was pleasantly surprised. While the story is not well written, there is certainly enough humor in parenting to go around. Several scenes incorporate a Dad’s support group which is particularly funny. None of these situations are novel, but as a Father of two, I really enjoyed the movie.
