This past weekend, I had the opportunity to take a family
trip to Houston. Houston in July was
cause for some trepidation, but the weather was not too bad. We were in town as my wife’s cousin was
getting married. It was an elaborate
affair with a Christian ceremony on Friday, a Hindu ceremony on Saturday
followed by a reception Saturday night.
We arrived Thursday night and spent Friday getting settled
in. The homeowners association where we
were staying had a really nice pool.
Complete with two slides and all the amenities one would expect. The girls and I enjoyed the pool on Friday
and went back again on Sunday.
Another treat was a small restaurant called Bombay PizzaCo. We ordered a Cheese Pizza and Yogi’s
Veggie Masala mini-burgers. They both
hit the spot and hopefully we have an opportunity to sample more of the menu in
the future.
While the ceremonies were all quite elegant, the highlight
of any event is the reception. This one
was catered by Chuy’s and was a lot of fun.
As I get older, it is terrific to see kids in their twenties having
fun. The DJ was great. There were skits and musical numbers. The party lasted long after we left with our
children. One really cool idea was
distributing LED toys at one point during the party. The place looked like a rave and my kids got
a kick out of it.
