Flooding in Colorado?

This past week has brought some extreme weather to our area.  In a state where we annual average 11 inches of rainfall a year, some parts of the state had over 10 inches in 24 hours.  Naturally this overwhelmed creeks around the area forcing evacuations and resulting in extreme property damage.

We were lucky at our house.  The creek behind the house did not overflow its banks and water collected on the property flowed nicely to the streets.  The sewer systems remained functional.

The unexpected weather also gave me an opportunity to run in the rain.  This is obviously something that does not happen often.  I am more likely to run in snow than rain in these parts.  At first it was refreshing.  Then it became apparent that my polyester shirt and shorts are absorbing a lot more rain than I expected.  I did finish my run earning the respect of fellow runners along my route and earning sympathy from passing motorists.
