3W Races has done a great job supporting local businesses,
humanitarian charities and the running community. On Sunday the Race for Humanity was held to
raise money for Dustin, the son of a local runner, who suffered severe trauma
due to an accident. 217 racers came out
and contributed over $8,000 to offset medical costs for Dustin.
It was a low frills event with 100% of donations going to
the family. That meant recycled t-shirts
and raffle prizes for donations from local companies.
I was out there as a volunteer for a couple of hours and
helped getting the finish line set up, the sound system set up, and various
other tasks that need to get done to get numbers onto 216 runners and get them
out on the course.
I was pleasantly surprised by the turnout. The event was organized on short notice, but
the word spread quickly through the community.
Thanks 3W Races for putting on a great event to help us help one of our
own.
