This year I just raced, I went out fast, I settled into a
rhythm and during the tough uphill sections, I just focused on leg
turnover. The end result was a career
best 27:15 (8:21/mile pace). My average
heart rate over the course was 171 bpm and the last mile, I picked up the pace
slightly, but was thoroughly exhausted.
The course starts out downhill and I took advantage of that
posting a 7:30 mile split, then the course turns up before leveling off and
heading back down. My pace slowed down,
but my average heart rate stayed steady.
After settling into a pace, I was passed by about 7 other runners, but
the last half mile there was a solid gap between me and the next finisher.
I always like this event, because it is bragging rights for
the year. I didn’t win, but I did put in
a solid performance
On a side note, it was my first time trying out the RaceDots I recently purchased. They are as cool as advertised. No fumbling with safety pins to put on a crooked number. I snapped two on and slid them into place on my singlet.

Wow Steve, great pace! Racedots sounds cool. I'll have to look into them. I hate the safety pins and trying to get the bib on straight.
